Pet portrait FAQs
Wool has a uniquely beautiful soft texture that lends itself perfectly to recreate the furriness of an animal, in a way that a painting or drawing cannot. I have spent years perfecting my felting skills to accurately "paint" the realistic details of animals from photos with wool. I also use a wide range of wools, hairs and fur to create the perfect blend in both colour, texture and likeness to create the perfect pet portrait.
How do you actually make your portraits in wool ??
I use a technique called needle-felting, I use a barbed needle as though it were my brush to stab tiny pieces of coloured wool (as though it were my paint) into a flat piece of felt. Find out more with this tutorial/demonstration
